You are considered immune to measles if you have:
• had measles before, OR
• received 2 measles vaccines after the age of 12 months (e.g. the measles, mumps and rubella (MMR) vaccine).
If you were born or living in New Zealand before 1969, you are likely to be immune because nearly everyone caught measles before then. If you lived in another country before 1969 you will need to
check with your healthcare provider.
It is important you check if you are immune to measles and to find medical records, such as immunisation records or test results, to confirm this.

Due to a spiked increase in cases, a whooping cough (pertussis) epidemic has been declared across Aotearoa. Anybody can get it, at any age. Vaccination is best your protection against whooping cough. If you are due for a vaccination, or are unsure when you last had one, please contact us.
As of 1 October 2024, Covid-19 rapid antigen tests (RATs) will no longer be free. Here's what this means for you:
Any tests collected whilst free will have a shelf life ranging between December 2023 and May 2027.
From 1 October 2024 tests will only be available for purchase. You can purchase RATs from community pharmacies and retail stores such as supermarkets. It is recommended that you keep some RATs at home for testing if you or anyone in your household develop symptoms. Your healthcare provider may offer COVID-19 tests. Call them to find out and follow their advice. There may be a charge.
It is still recommended that you take a rapid antigen test (RAT) if you have cold, flu or any other COVID-19 symptoms. If your test is positive, it is recommended you isolate for 5 days, even if you only have mild symptoms. You should report your result in My Health Record so you can be connected with help and support if needed.
Please remember to advise staff when making an appointment if you have any cough, cold or covid-19 symptoms. We recommend doing a RAT test on the day of your appointment. If you return a negative result, please wear a mask when you come in for your appointment. If you return a positive result, please stay home and call our practice to advise our staff.
